GREAT LOVE

Great Love 15 Long-termCare and Effort With gratitude, with respect and with love, Tzu Chi volunteers help the poor and needy regardless of race and religion. Since 1992, volunteers have been paying regular visits to care recipients to follow up on their well-being and offer continued care and support. During festive seasons, volunteers celebrate with care recipients like a family with vegetarian meals and distributions of relief aid. “Educating the rich to help the poor; inspiring the poor to realize their riches”. Tzu Chi focuses not only on the effectiveness of its aid and assistance, but also on bringing out the goodness in everyone. By helping the poor, the rich get to feel the happiness of giving and find the true meaning of life. Likewise, the poor are motivated to harbour love abundantly and help out those less fortunate than themselves, so that they break away from perceived helplessness and despair. Institutional Care and Visit Over the past 25 years, the Great Love of Tzu Chi has spread to every corner of the society, including orphanages, homes for the disabled, leprosy centre, old folks’ homes, homes for the blind, HIV centres and detention camps. Tzu Chi volunteers cut the residents’ hair, trim their nails, bathe them, serve food, chat with them and clean up the premises on a regular basis.
