21 Great Love Overcome Life’s Challenges with Perseverance Tzu Chi volunteers first visited Thinesh Kumar, who was born with mobility impairment, for Tzu Chi Study Grant application assessment in 2008. Back then, Thinesh was in Primary 1 and was the top student in his class. After receiving Tzu Chi Study Grant for three years and as his family’s financial status improved, his mother requested Tzu Chi to stop providing financial aid and to help those who needed it more. Now a secondary school student, Thinesh has persisted not only in pursuing his ambition to become a computer engineer, but also saving up his pocket money to help others. His perseverance has inspired many students to fight against all odds when encountered with difficulties in life.
