Great Love 29 Parent-child Bonding Class Tzu Chi opened its first “Children’s Achievement Class” in 1995, with the hope of nurturing children with Tzu Chi’s humanistic values. In 2005, it was restructured to “Parent- child Bonding Class” to include parents in the classes, thereby fostering closer relationships between the parents and their children. In 2015, the Parent-child Bonding Class conducted in English was initiated. Tzu Chi Teenagers’Group The curriculum of Tzu Chi Teenagers’ Group focuses on inculcating the practice of loving- kindness and filial piety, through which the teenagers derive true happiness and realize their blessings. Da Ai Kindergarten The first Da Ai kindergarten in Malaysia was set up in 2001. Today, there are ten Da Ai kindergartens / early childcare centres in Penang, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan. With the goal of providing a quality all-round education, the kindergarten places special emphasis on character development and the learning of life skills. Master Cheng Yen’s teachings in the form of Jing Si Aphorisms are also integrated into its curriculum. To keep parents updated on their children’s progress and development, the teachers maintain regular communication with the parents through a communication log book. There is also a group of volunteers, known as “Loving Mothers”, who serve as teachers’ assistants, providing the support needed to facilitate teaching and learning in class. Since the opening of Tzu Chi Junior College of Nursing in 1989, Tzu Chi has established kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, as well as tertiary institutions. This is a concrete representation of Master Cheng Yen’s aim for holistic education. These schools place a strong emphasis on character development and the inculcation of wholesome values. The aim is to nurture the next generation into compassionate and responsible adults who will contribute their knowledge and skills for the greater good of society.
