GREAT LOVE

Great Love 43 Asia – Earthquake, Nepal A magnitude 7.8 earthquake rocked Nepal on April 25, 2015. Tzu Chi despatched 11 batches of relief and medical team, made up of 312 volunteers from 11 countries, to the disaster areas. Volunteers conducted relief distributions and provided medical supplies and services, hot meals and tents to those affected. A cash-for-work programme was also initiated, where the victims were paid for cleaning the streets, helping in cooking meals, building tents, et cetera. As at November 23, 2015, 109 prefabricated classrooms had been constructed and various relief aid had been granted to some 210,000 recipients. Mid- and long-term relief efforts are currently in progress.
