Great Love 13 Mission of Humanistic Culture • Since 1967, Tzu Chi has channelled human values and virtues through Tzu Chi Monthly, Rhythms Monthly, Da Ai TV Station and Da Ai e-Radio. • Jing-Si Publications was established, with 116 Jing- Si Books & Café outlets set up in ten countries. Bone Marrow Donation • Tzu Chi Stem Cells Centre is now the world’s largest Chinese bone marrow data bank, with more than 437,000 registered donors. • It has benefitted patients with blood-related diseases from 31 countries with more than 5,400 successful transplant cases. International Disaster Relief • Since 1991, Tzu Chi has provided emergency relief to disaster victims in 94 countries. • Relief for major disasters included earthquakes in China (2008), Haiti (2010), Japan (2011) and Nepal (2015); Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar (2008), Hurricane Sandy in USA (2012) and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines (2013). • Permanent homes, schools and various community facilities were constructed in disaster-stricken countries such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Myanmar, China, the Philippines, etc. Environmental Protection • More than 10,000 recycling centres / points have been set up in 17 countries. • More than 107,000 recycling volunteers from all over the world are involved in recycling activities. Community Volunteerism • After the devastating Typhoon Hobo that hit Taiwan hard in 1996, Master Cheng Yen called on all volunteers to care for their neighbours. • Community volunteerism has since been implemented to return to the traditional virtues of caring for the society, and to enable efficient dissemination of information and rapid mobilization of volunteers in times of need.
