“To ensure hygiene and safety, dental treatment requires various disposables to be used. Because of this, some conclude that dentistry is one of the least environmental-friendly professions.” However, ever since dentist Ng Guat Kiat and her assistants responded to Tzu Chi’s call for recycling, they have proven that they too can practise environmental protection.
Tzu Chi Miri Liaison Office organized their second free medical outreach this year on November 3, 2019, to benefit the locals at Kuala Baram Jeti Lama.
For three consecutive years, Tzu Chi Kuching and Kelab Cabaran Pacuan 4 Roda Bintulu (4x4) have co-hosted a medical outreach programme. This year, the medical outreach was held at the inland area of Ulu Baram, Miri Division. With the aim of spreading love and care, this outreach programme provided medical treatment and health education to 455 residents of seven longhouses.
With the 3-year fund allocation from US Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor is actively planning for and extending its medical outreaches to areas with significant refugee population to safeguard their health.
Suffering from illness is a tremendous torture to one’s life. Many medical professionals, who have treated various diseases, believe that dispensing medicine to stop pain and providing surgical operation to cure illnesses are the best treatments they could give patients. However, their perception has changed after participating in a medical mission to rural areas. They experienced that love is the best medicine as it comforts the patients’ hearts.
Tzu Chi Kuching organized a 2-day medical outreach mission with the support from Bintulu 4WD Challenge Club, benefiting 793 villagers from 15 long houses in Kampung Long Urun, Belaga.
