  • No one would have thought that Stephanie Chew, who always appears eloquent, steady, calm, confident, and cheerful on stage, once fell into the whirlpool of depression, having suicidal thoughts.

  • Tzu Chi KL & Selangor held its Year-end Blessing Ceremonies on January 8 and February 12, 2023, to express gratitude to members of the public for their support towards Tzu Chi’s missions and welcome volunteers home for a reunion while receiving blessings from Master Cheng Yen.

  • After three consecutive months of book study, sutra singing, and sign language practices and rehearsals, Lim Hon Seng and his daughter, En Ning, successfully made it for the performance of The Wondrous Lotus Sutra Musical Adaptation. It is rewarding that the daughter has also laid to rest the ghost of cyberbullying, while the father has learned to tame his temper.

  • A group of environmentally-conscious youth has gathered 33 vendors selling plant-based food and eco-friendly products, bringing an amazing green experience to over 2,000 members of the public.

  • Despite feeling exhausted from daily chores and taking care of her bedridden mother and seven children, Sitrah believes that education is key to helping her children distinguish right from wrong and break free from poverty.
  • Teacher Chor Zheng Hao has only met his student Rakin online. Despite this, he has successfully guided the boy academically and boosted his confidence to interact with others.

  • On the morning of August 20, 2022, Tzu Chi volunteers from the English Group visited Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur. This initiative was presented as an opportunity after several representatives had also visited Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall in Kepong a month earlier.

  • Faced with the demise of four family members in a short span of three years, Cheah Hong Ying was once overwhelmed with pain and grief. Fortunately, her guardian angels appeared in time, accompanying her on the uphill journey to reconnect with life after suffering loss. She said, “If it was not for Tzu Chi people, I do not know what would have become of me!”

  • Master Cheng Yen once said, “If everyone harbours a kind heart and abides in the true Dharma every day, then every day is an auspicious day.”

  • “I am grateful that because of the Dharma I did not wreck my marriage. I am also grateful that the Dharma has guided me to be a good wife and mother.” – Siow Kim Yen

  • In May 2021, as the pandemic raged, Tzu Chi launched the Malaysia Solidarity Covid-19 Fund* to help raise funds for medical equipment in various hospitals. Caritas Malaysia participated and raised RM 1 million for the purchase of medical equipment, hence making initial contact with Tzu Chi. During their national meeting, the Catholic Church invited bishops, nuns and committee members from other states on a field trip to visit KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall and Jinjang Recycling Centre on July 30, 2022.

  • After two pandemic years, Tzu Chi International School Kuala Lumpur (TCISKL) was finally able to organize its first sports day. The event, participated by 1,700 students and school staff, was held over three days from July 22, 2022, for kindergarten, primary and secondary students respectively.

  • Once again, Tzu Chi KL & Selangor will bring us another musical adaptation in appreciation of the spirit of the Lotus Sutra, following the last “Dharma as Water” musical performance in 2015.

  • Each book study session shone like rays of sunlight that rid the mist and cleansed the mind of ignorance. While this helped to calm the mind, it has also enabled Wong Swee Nyun and spouse, Chong Yan Moy, to see life in a new light, and they have emerged more wholesome through learning the Dharma.

  • As the Russia-Ukraine war rages on, Master Cheng Yen urged Tzu Chi volunteers worldwide to consolidate their strengths to help the displaced Ukrainian refugees. On May 7, a charity food bazaar was held at the KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall to raise funds for the Ukrainian refugees.

    “These corns were just harvested this morning, so they are very fresh!”
     
    “These are authentic Taiwanese food, they are delicious!”
     
    This was no ordinary carnival. The dining area of the KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall had turned into a bustling charity bazaar, selling a tantalizing spread of vegetarian food. It was a resounding success as satisfied visitors could not resist walking away with bags of tempting treats.
     
  • Starting this April, borders were lifted and restrictions relaxed. Life unreels to its pre-pandemic pace, reopening a world without borders. Tzu Chi KL & Selangor resumed the long-anticipated Buddha bathing ceremony at KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall, while volunteers and members of the public made their way back to their spiritual homes in several states of Malaysia, fulfilling the Buddha bathing ritual meant to purify hearts and minds.

  • Lalitha, who once needed Tzu Chi’s help, is now able to help others. She cooked her signature dish for the charity sale to help the Ukrainian refugees.
